Description
This photo captures the beauty of the night sky, with a vast array of stars twinkling against a dark backdrop. The three stars in the center of the photo are Orion's belt, a well-known asterism in the constellation Orion.
Orion is one of the most recognizable constellations in the sky. It is named after the hunter Orion in Greek mythology. The constellation is easily visible in the winter sky in the Northern Hemisphere. The three stars in Orion's belt are the brightest stars in the constellation. They are Alnitak, Alnilam, and Mintaka. Orion also contains the Orion Nebula, a vast cloud of gas and dust where stars are born.
The mountains in the background add a sense of scale and drama, and the muted colors create a peaceful and serene atmosphere. This is Mount Ossa, alternatively Kissavos, a mountain in the Larissa regional unit, in Thessaly, Greece.
The yellow and orange light is the light pollution which contradicts with the beautiful green air glow filling the otherwise dark night sky.
The photograph was captured from Halkidiki, far across the black waters of the Aegean Sea.
