Description
Driving around the ring road of Iceland, with a direction of West to East, this is what you see while you approach Seljalandsfoss waterfall. Although Seljalandsfoss is about 60 meters tall it looks really small relative to the huge rocky cliff from which it originates.
Icelandic nature is full of epic vistas like huge mountains and beautiful waterfalls. Here you can see a part of Eyjafjöll mountain range. Apart from Seljalandsfoss, Skogafoss is another famous waterfall located beneath those mountains.
We visited Iceland in late September and early October and as you can see in the photo autumn colors had started to appear. Interestingly the weather was pretty good, a perfect warm sunny day to hike around and explore the area. Just a few clouds in the blue sky!
When you visit Seljalandsfoss waterfall, and after walking behind it you should also visit Gljufrabui waterfall which is only a 10 minutes hike north. Gljufrabui is also visible from the ring road. It’s a bit tricky that only its top part is visible though since the lower part is behind the rocks of a narrow canyon!
