Artist's Description
Sun Voyager is a steel sculpture on the wave front of Iceland's capital, Reykjavik. It was created by the Icelandic sculptor Jón Gunnar Árnason. It is described as a dreamboat, or an ode to the Sun. The artist intended it to convey the promise of undiscovered territory, a dream of hope, progress and freedom.
Of course it looks like a Vikings ship which is the first thing that comes in your mind since you are in the country of Vikings who travelled the seas with their ships. However some argue that this wasn't the intention of the artist. Nevertheless Sun Voyager is a famous tourist attraction and you can easily find it very close to Harpa Concert Hall.
In this photo you see this beautiful modern art sculpture with sidelight from the sun during a cloudy and moody Winter evening. The sea is relatively calm although it was pretty windy and cold that day.
About Alexios Ntounas
Hey! I am Ntounas Alexios, born in Thessaloniki, Greece. I am a software engineer and in the past few years I became passionate about photography. I always enjoyed travelling and exploring new places. With my photos I can share those experiences with the rest of the world. Photography is a good reason to wake up early to capture a sunrise, to stay out late to photograph the milky way or to wait for the perfect light. In the end its all about being out in nature capturing the perfect moment. Landscapes, seascapes, cityscapes and astrophotography are my favorite genres of photography. My photographs have been published in Greek magazines and I have participated in various photography exhibitions.
