The Yoda Cave is located in the Hjorleifshofdi mountain, in the South Coast of Iceland. Its actual name is the Hjorleifshofdi Cave but its opening really looks like Yoda, the legendary Jedi Master from the Star Wars movies. This cave even appeared in the Star Wars: Rogue One movie. The actual cave isn’t that big although it is pretty tall. Nevertheless, it is a cool place to visit no matter whether you are a Star Wars fan or not.
To get there you will need to drive east from Vik and after about 12km turn left towards the beach. There is a gravel road leading there.
For the record The Hjorleifshofdi mountain was named after Hjörleifur Hróðmarsson, Ingólfur Arnarson’s stepbrother, and one of the first settlers of Iceland.
In the photo you can see how this cave looks from inside looking towards the black sand beach during a cloudy day in autumn.
Hey! I am Ntounas Alexios, born in Thessaloniki, Greece. I am a software engineer and in the past few years I became passionate about photography. I always enjoyed travelling and exploring new places. With my photos I can share those experiences with the rest of the world. Photography is a good reason to wake up early to capture a sunrise, to stay out late to photograph the milky way or to wait for the perfect light. In the end its all about being out in nature capturing the perfect moment. Landscapes, seascapes, cityscapes and astrophotography are my favorite genres of photography. My photographs have been published in Greek magazines and I have participated in various photography exhibitions.
