The Perseids are an amazing meteor shower taking place every August. The meteors are called the Perseids because the point from which they appear to hail, called the radiant, lies in the constellation Perseus. At their peak you can witness a high number of shooting stars if the conditions are night, e.g. there is no moon in the night sky. In the Northern hemisphere this time of the year is in the heart of summer making it very easy to stay out late at night and enjoy the falling stars.
Each year I enjoy finding a dark place, preferably next to the sea. I set up my camera and look at the starry sky. In this photo you can also view the galaxy with the milky way core shining in the night sky. The sea was really calm adding to the serenity of the scene. This rocky beach framed perfectly the milky way and the starry sky. You can see a small meteor falling next to the milky way core!

Hey! I am Ntounas Alexios, born in Thessaloniki, Greece. I am a software engineer and in the past few years I became passionate about photography. I always enjoyed travelling and exploring new places. With my photos I can share those experiences with the rest of the world. Photography is a good reason to wake up early to capture a sunrise, to stay out late to photograph the milky way or to wait for the perfect light.
