The Trevi Fountain (Fontana di Trevi in Italian) is a fountain in the Trevi district in Rome, Italy. During my visit in Rome it was one of my favorite sightseeing experiences. I walked by the fountain several times both during the day and night. It was always crowded since it is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Italy. I think it looked really beautiful illuminated at night. And of course I threw a coin using my right hand over my left shoulder in the fountain to make a wish! You know, to return one day to Rome.
Here is some historical information. The Trevi Fountain was initially designed by Bernini for Pope Clemens XII. 50 years later it was redesigned by Italian architect Nicola Salvi and completed by Giuseppe Pannini. Work on the fountain began in 1732 and it was completed in 1762. It is the largest Baroque fountain in the city and one of the most famous fountains in the world.
