Description
Walking in the morning in a pine tree forest covered in fog may seem spooky to some people. I really like this mood and atmosphere though. I think it has a sense of mystery in it. Those pine trees normally have a straight trunk. However if there was no fog you would see that this forest is located at the top of a hill next to the sea. The strong winds have bent those trunks! This urban forest is in Thessaloniki city in Greece in Kalamaria. Usually there are many people walking or joking there since you also get a very nice view. This morning however there was no one around. I guess most people don’t want to go outdoors on a humid and cold November morning.
Those evergreen trees are called Macedonian or Mediterranean pine which is a very common and valuable conifer species in the Balkan Peninsula. They have characteristic sheathed bundles (fascicles) of two, three or five needle-like leaves.
