Description
The Perseids are an amazing meteor shower taking place every August. The meteors are called the Perseids because the point from which they appear to hail, called the radiant, lies in the constellation Perseus. At their peak you can witness a high number of shooting stars if the conditions are night, e.g. there is no moon in the night sky. In the Northern hemisphere this time of the year is in the heart of summer making it very easy to stay out late at night and enjoy the falling stars.
Each year I enjoy finding a dark place, preferably next to the sea. I set up my camera and look at the starry sky. In this photo you can also view the galaxy with the milky way core shining in the night sky. The sea was really calm adding to the serenity of the scene. Unfortunately after a while clouds covered the sky preventing me from capturing more meteors. Maybe next year!
The photo was taken in Chalkidiki in Greece. In the background you can see the lights of the villages of Mount Pelion.
