Description
This large troll stone sculpture is located at Arnarstapi, a small village on the Snæfellsnes peninsula in Western Iceland. It was designed by the Icelandic sculptor Ragnar Kjartansson. The statue represents Bardur Snaefelssas. According to Bárðar Saga, Bárður Snæfellsás was a half troll-half man protector of the Snaeflessas peninsula.
In this photo you can see the big sculpture overseeing the near mountain which has its top covered by fog. Although it was a cold winter evening the sun was doing its best to warm the fields and the mountain side. Walking on the seashore after passing Bardur statue you can find the Gatklettur stone arch and some amazing rock formations getting hit by the ocean waves.
